lynne-diebel-2.jpg Midwestern to the bone, I was born and raised in Minnesota and earned my degree in English from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Since 1974, my husband Bob Diebel and I have lived in Wisconsin, where we raised our four children, now grown. Same house for 33 years. After I retired from teaching high school, nature photographer Jann Kalscheur and I created ABCs Naturally (Trails Books, 2003). Then Bob and I spent three years canoeing and kayaking almost 3,000 miles of Minnesota rivers and lakes to write the guidebooks Paddling Northern Minnesota (2005) and Paddling Southern Minnesota (2007), both published by Trails Books. Pat Dillon and I wrote Green Travel Guide to Southern Wisconsin, published by University of Wisconsin Press in May 2010.

Current projects: Green Travel Guide to Northern Wisconsin, also co-authored with Pat Dillon, will come out in Spring, 2011. I write about canoeing and kayaking in Minnesota for Northern Wilds and Minnesota Trails. Jann Kalscheur and I give ABCs Naturally programs at state parks, nature centers, libraries and schools. In August 2008,  Jann and I were Artists-in-Residence at Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains State Park. Now that I’ve learned enough about my camera to be an alphabet hunter, Jann and I are spelling names and words with our collection of natural alphabet images, which we frame and sell at art fairs and online under the name Wild Alphabet Press.
